CHITTAGONG, July 26: Movement of trucks and coveredvans is going to be stopped by day time to eliminate traffic congestion and ensure unhindered movement of pedestrians and vehicular traffic over the city roads. Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Traffic Department has taken a decision on principle in this connection to give a directive that trucks should move at night and the decision on the newly devised system will be announced by the CMP shortly.
Concerned sources said, meanwhile CMP has initially informed the owners and drivers of the trucks and covered vans plying in the city and also those whose movement extend from the city to the interdistrict routes of the decision.
CMP sources further said, drastic action would be taken against the owners of trucks and covered vans if they do not desist from entering the city area with their vehicles and parking in a haphazard manner and unload goods by day time.
