A Chattogram court acquitted 607 accused in 15 cases filed during the Quota Reform Movement, with six police stations under the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) on Monday.
Police on Thursday submitted the final report of the cases to the Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
Under The Explosives Act, 1884, and The Special Powers Act, 1974, five cases were filed with Kotwali police station, four with Panchlaish police station, one with Bakolia police station, one at Akbar Shah police station, two with Chandgaon police station and two with Khulshi police station due to an allegation of attack on police, according to sources.
CMP's Additional Police Commissioner (Crime & Ops.) Abdul Mannan Miah said a total of 21 cases were filed during the anti-quota movement at different police stations of the city. So far, the final reports of 15 have been submitted to the court.
Among the 6 other cases, two were filed in connection with the murder of students in Panchlaish and Chandgaon areas and are currently under investigation.
Panchlaish police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Santosh Kumar Chakma said the murder cases are currently under investigation by the police.
