CHITTAGONG, June 11: Transport owners and workers have suspended bus services on the Chittagong-Cox's Bazar and Cox's Bazar-Teknaf routes Wednesday in protest against closure of a ticket counter.
A mobile court in Cox's Bazar shut down a ticket counter at Jhelongjha on Wednesday noon. All transport operators protested the move and suspended their bus services.
A transport workers' leader, working with S Alam Paribahan in Cox's Bazar, said they have stopped plying buses from Cox's Bazar to Chittagong and Teknaf.
The transport owners were scheduled to hold a meeting with the local administration regarding the issue, but its output could not be known till filing of this report at 7.30 pm.
UNO of Cox's Bazar Sadar Upazila Shahidul Islam said they had decided to evict the bus counters from link-road in a meeting two months back, where the bus owners were also present.
