CHITTAGONG, Oct 3: The normal activities of the Family Planning (FP) Directorate in Chittagong have been severely affected due to alleged irregularities and misuse of power by a section of corrupt officials.
Sources said some officials of the directorate have sent a letter to the chief adviser of the caretaker government narrating their sufferings and seeking justice to save them from harassment of those corrupt officials.
In their letter, the officials blamed divisional director of the Family Planning Directorate in Chittagong for misuse of power and irregularities and harassing officials who were raising protest against corrupt activities of the director. Recently, the director transferred family planning officer of Teknaf Mridul Kumar Acharya to Ramu when he protested against the irregularities of the directorate officials.
"We are being threatened with transfer or suspension from service if we say anything against the director and others involved in corruption," said an official on condition of anonymity.
Sources said Teknaf Upazila achieved a tremendous success in implementation of the family planning programme over the last few years but the corrupt officials of the directorate refused to nominate Teknaf for the best upazila award.
