CHITTAGONG, Aug 18: A total of 164 acres of land of Chittagong WASA worth about Tk 5.0 billion (500 crore) which had been lying under unauthorised occupation for long 43 years, have ultimately been recovered.
Chittagong Port (CP) Magistrate Mohammad Munir Chowdhury conducted the eviction drive and recovered the land from the clutch of the unauthorised occupants at Halishahar area in the city recently.
According to Chittagong WASA sources, it is earmarked to be the biggest incident of eviction of illegal occupants during the recent time in Chittagong. A huge number of unauthorised establishments including 52 fisheries and dairy farms were based on the site.
