FE Report
Around 92 per cent of fast food products are 2 to 5 days old and the seller warms those before serving to the customers, according to an investigation report.
Speakers of Save Environment Movement (SEM) quoted this at a human chain formed in front of Fine Arts Institution at Shahbag in the city on Saturday.
The activists urged the government to amend the consumer's right protection law 2009, said a press release.
They demanded a permanent commission immediately for quality control of food and drug products and give exemplary punishment to those responsible for selling those to consumers.
They demanded that without the permission of the proposed council, no food or pharmaceutical products should be allowed to be marketed.
Without establishing the consumers and manufacturers right, the consumers’ right protection law 2009 cannot be executed, SEM leaders said.
The speakers also said that adulterated food is available in abundance everywhere. Fruits, vegetables, fish and meat are full of harmful chemical applied to resist bacteria. The chairman of SEM Abu Naser, folksong star Kuddus Boyati and representatives of different organisation spoke at the occasion.
