CHITTAGONG, May 25: Chittagong University Teachers' Association (CUTA) has rejected the proposed national pay scale.

Terming the proposed national pay scale 'biased', the association leaders told a press conference on Sunday that it is not acceptable to the varsity teachers.

They made seven-point demands at the press conference held on the university campus.

CUTA secretary Khairul Alam Quddusi in his written statement said pay scale of experienced professors of public university should be equal to senior secretary of the Bangladesh government while those of associate professors, assistant professors and lecturers should also be in accordance with that category.

He also demanded research and book allowance, personal cars, housing and other facilities like senior government officials and elevation of the rank of vice chancellors of public universities to the status and scale of principal secretary of the government.

CUTA president Prof Abul Monsur, vice president Shyamol Ranjan Chakraborty, treasurer Dr Hanif Siddiqui and joint secretary Ohidul Alam also spoke on the occasion.
