A Dhaka court granted Abdur Rauf Daud Merchant, an Indian goon and an associate of mafia don Daud Ibrahim, a three-day remand Wednesday in a case filed under section 54, report agencies.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Muhammad Nuru Mia passed the order rejecting his bail petition submitted by his lawyer Muhammad Hemayet Uddin Khan Hiron.

Earlier, Muhammad Golam Rasul, a DB sub-inspector and also the investigation officer of the case, produced him before court seeking a seven-day remand for him.

A DB team rearrested Daud Merchant, a resident of Sharifa Road in Mumbai, India, and convicted him of killing Indian music baron Gulshan Kumar, from the city's Khilgaon intersection Tuesday.

He was later shown arrested in the case filed under section 54 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

In 2009, Bangladesh police arrested him for intruding into the country without valid documents. He remained in jail since then.  Later, in 2012, he secured bail from the court.

Detectives first arrested him in 2009 while he was hiding in the residence of one Kamal Mian at Mourail in Brahmanbaria.
