DCI executive director in city

Dr Ehsan Hoque, founder and honorary executive director of Distressed Children & Infants International (DCI) arrived in the city on Thursday to supervise and monitor the US-based non-profit organisation's programmes in Bangladesh.

As part of his commitment to protect child rights and sight, he is expected to continue his work through advocacy and various other projects in the country, said a press release.

During his visit, Dr Hoque will meet the DCI's team members and partner organisations like Rights & Sight for Children (RSC), Bangladesh National Woman Lawyers' Association (BNWLA), National Girl Child Advocacy Forum (NGCAF) and Tauri Foundation.

He will also meet a number of medical and academic professionals, and NGO leaders to assess the local child labour prevention programmes across the country.

As the goodwill ambassador of the NGCAF, Dr Hoque will focus on protecting the rights of girls and women, preventing early marriage, advocating gender equality.
