The deep depression over the West Central Bay and adjoining East Central Bay remained practically stationary and it weakened into a depression over the same area, reports UNB.
It centred at 3pm on Friday about 1045 kms southwest of Chittagong port, 975 kms southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 950 kms south-southwest of Mongla port and 940 kms south-southwest of Payra port.
It is likely to move in a west-northwesterly direction towards Andhra Pradesh coast of India, said the latest special bulletin of the Met office.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 44 kms of the depression centre is about 40 kph rising to 50 kph in gusts/squalls. Sea will remain moderate near the center of the system.
The Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant cautionary signal No 1.
All fishing boats and trawlers over the deep sea have been advised to remain close to the North Bay and not to venture into deep sea.
