Demolition of govt primary school protested

Students, teachers and activists on Tuesday formed a human chain to protest against the demolition of a govt. primary school on Bailey Road in Dhaka. The protesters demanded that the school is rebuilt at its site adjacent to Bangladesh Girls’ Guide Association. Samajik Shikkya Kendra Government Primary School was demolished last week allegedly at the initiative of the association even though an appeal on the land ownership dispute is pending in the High Court, said the school’s head mistress Rowshan Ara Begum. Bangladesh Chhatra Union arranged the human chain in front of National Press Club, according to a news agency.
