The successful candidates in the first-phase result of the 27th BCS examination but unsuccessful in the second-phase one have rejected the government's decision to give them the chance to sit for the 29th BCS examination relaxing the condition of age limit.
"We vehemently reject the government's decision and demand immediate appointments to our respective cadres as per the previous commitment of the government to us in this connection", Zillur Rahman, a deprived candidate of the 27th BCS examination, said at a press conference at National Press Club in the city Wednesday.
He said, "Education Adviser Hossain Zillur Rahman came to us at the Central Shaheed Minar after our agitation and made us break the hunger strike giving the pledge of our appointments but the Public Service Commission (PSC) and the government are not now keeping the promise."
The deprived candidates termed the government's decision to relax the age limit illegal, impractical and ridiculous, as their age will be 38 to 40 in the government services within the timeline of completing the appointment process of the 29th BCS examination.
They said they will file a writ petition with the High Court challenging the government's decision.
It may be mentioned that 1,137 candidates came out successful in the first-phase result of the 27th BCS examination but became unsuccessful in the second-phase one. They have been agitating for their appointments since November 1 last.
