CHITTAGONG, July 4 (UNB): Superintending Engineer of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) M Shahidullah, earlier arrested in a graft case, died at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) Wednesday morning.
Chittagong jail super Bazlur Rashid said Shahidullah (54), who fell sick during his detention, was admitted to jail hospital on June 30 evening.
He said Shahidullah complained of acute chest pain at about 6:30 am Wednesday and was immediately shifted to the CMCH, where he died at about 8:45 am.
The CMCH sources, however, said the attending physician found Shahidullah dead when he was brought to the hospital at about 8:30 am.
The army-led joint forces arrested CCC Superintending Engineer (Electrical) M Shahidullah as he came out of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) office in the port city on June 26.
Later, he was taken to the joint forces' camp in the city for interrogation and sent to jail next day (June 27) following a court order.
Shahidullah was suspended from CCC about a month ago after the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Chittagong sued him on May 27 on charge of corruption.
