The new country representative of the UK's Department for International Development (DFID), Chris Austin, arrived in Dhaka Sunday.
"Bangladesh is DFID's second largest country programme and I am delighted to be joining the DFID team here. Bangladesh is an extraordinary country with masses of potential as well as some challenges. I am really looking forward to working with other development partners and supporting efforts to ensure … stable future for Bangladesh." Austin said in a statement.
He has worked for the British government in various capacities over the last 23 years, both in the Treasury, the UK's finance ministry, and the DFID. Prior to his arrival, he was working at DFID's London headquarters as deputy director for the Africa Division.

The DFID is responsible for the UK's contribution towards international efforts to eliminate poverty.
