China and Bangladesh are at a critical stage of development and revitalisation, says Chinese Ambassador in Dhaka Yao Wen.
"China and Bangladesh have set a good example of mutual respect and win-win cooperation," he said.
The envoy said this while inaugurating the '2024 Chinese Government Training Programmes' for Bangladeshis at the embassy on Wednesday evening.
"China has been and will always be Bangladesh's most reliable partner and trustworthy friend."
Mr Wen said the consensus reached by the two state leaders on strengthening personnel exchange, deepening people-to-people and cultural exchanges has injected vitality into the development of bilateral ties.
He noted that the prospect of China and Bangladesh relations will be even brighter with the seminar candidates' participation and dedication.
Md Anwar Hossain, additional secretary and wing chief of the Economic Relations Division, attended the programme as the chief guest.
More than 140 people, including officials from the authorities concerned, representatives from Chinese institutions in Bangladesh, Confucius Institute and Confucius Classroom, and major media outlets participated in the event.
Mr Wen said the number of training programmes and personnel provided by the Chinese government to Bangladesh this year has reached a new height, with the total number of trainees exceeding 500.
"The number of bilateral seminars reaches 19, ranking first in the world, covering areas like financial cooperation, investment promotion, exhibitions, agricultural product processing, customs on-site supervision, water project and railway construction, Chinese language teaching, sports and media."
At the event, Mr Anwar lauded the role of China in supporting Bangladesh's development endeavours.
He requested the Chinese authorities to include more Bangladeshis in the PhD programmes.
