A blockade of the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway has been withdrawn after one and a half hours on Sunday, reports bdnews24.com.
Tarek Al Mehedi, additional police superintendent, confirmed that it was withdrawn at around 04:00 pm.
Traffic movement on one of the country's busiest highways has resumed, he said.
Earlier, local students and residents began the blockade at around 03:00 pm on Sunday in the Signboard area, placing bamboo and wooden logs across the road.
The protest brought traffic to a halt on both sides of the highways, causing long tailbacks and severe congestion.
Jabed Alam, a member of the National Citizen Party's district committee, said: "We are enforcing the blockade to demand that the Hadi trial be carried out swiftly."
