The 15-day Dhaka International Book Fair has begun at Suhrawardy Uddyan in the city. This year's theme of the fair is 'Books for Change'.
Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Abul Kalam Azad inaugurated the fair as chief guest Friday.
"We have been holding the fair at different venues in the city since 1995. The government will take initiatives to make a permanent venue for the fair," the minister said.
At least 230 local and foreign publication houses have set up stalls at the fair. The stalls owners are offering 25 per cent discount on all kinds of books on the occasion.
The entry fee is Tk 5.0 per person. However, entry of school students is free.
The fair will remain open from 2pm to 10pm everyday and from 11am to 10pm in the weekends.
