DU Correspondent
Today (Sunday) is Dhaka University (DU) Day. The day will be observed amid much fervour and festivity.
On this day in 1921, the university started its journey with an aim of providing higher education to the people of this region with only 877 students, 60 teachers, 12 departments and three residential halls for the students.
A day-long programme has been drawn up on the occasion. The programmes feature a colourful rally, discussion on DNA technology, debate competition, blood donation, tree plantation, serving good food at the residential halls, friendly football matches between the Vice-Chancellor XI versus DU Alumni Association XI and present students XI versus former students XI.
