Diarrhoea outbreak grips Rangamati

RANGAMATI, May 29 (UNB): A school student died of diarrhoea and 70 people were afflicted with the water-borne disease in Jurachhari upazila of Rangamati district in last two days, health officials said on Sunday.
Rangabi Chakma, a class two student of Amtala village, was reported to have died from diarrhoea on Friday, said Ananya Chakma, health officer at Jurachhari Upazila Health Complex.
Authorities at Jurachhari Health Complex rushed a five-member medical team to provide medical treatment to diarrhoea patients in the affected villages, some of them in remote hills.
Ten patients from Amtala village under the Moidang union of the upazila were sent to Rangamati upazila health complex on Friday.
Mangal Chakma, assistant headmaster of Amtala Badalhatchhara Government Primary School, said the water-borne disease was reported after days of rain.
