DIU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr M Lutfar Rahman presiding over the press conference at National Press Club in the city Monday. The Daffodil International University (DIU) will celebrate its 12th founding anniversary on February 15, 2014 at its Ashulia permanent campus, said a press release.
To mark the anniversary, a weeklong inter department sports competition, math olympiad, cultural competition have been arranged.
The daylong programme will include bus rally, pitha utshab, blood donation programme, discussion, picnic, tree plantation games and sports, fun events and raffle draw, picnic and live concert.
US Ambassador in Bangladesh Dan W Mozena will attend the programme as the chief guest while renowned personalities, celebrities and dignitaries are expected to attend the programme.
This was disclosed at a 'Meet the Press' programme the National Press Club in the city Monday.
Prof Dr M Lutfar Rahman, vice-chancellor of DIU presided over the conference and read out the information of the 12th founding anniversary.
Prof Dr M Mizanur Rahman, treasurer, Prof Dr Engr AKM Fazlul Haque, Prof Dr Md Zakir Hossain, director and dean of faculty of business and economics, Prof Dr Golam Rahaman, dean of Faculty of Humanities and Social Science, Muhamad Emran Hossain, director, Syed Mizanur Rahman, director and Md Anowar Habib Kazal, assistant director attended the press conference.
The VC of the university informed that DIU started its academic activities with only 67 students in January 24, 2002. Now the number of enrolled student is more than 12,000. Due to its quality education and outstanding performance the university could make position among ten top graded private universities of Bangladesh as per evaluation of the UGC, the release added.
