Diversified use of jute stressed

RAJSHAHI, Sept 9 (BSS): Specialists here Sunday underscored the need for ensuring diversified uses of jute to regain its past glory.
They said the economic condition of the people who were directly or indirectly involved in the jute sector could also be bolstered through ensuring various uses of the 'golden fibre'.
They were addressing a views-exchange meeting at Nanking Darbar Hall on the eve of a three-day fair on diversified jute products that will start today (Monday) on the same venue.
Jute Diversification Pro-motion Centre (JDPC) will arrange the fair aiming at disseminating ideas about diversification of the jute and jute products.
JDPC Executive Director ABM Abdullah and directors Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan and Rezaul Haque and Project Manager Abdus Salam spoke on the occasion highlighting the prospects and possibilities of multi-purpose uses of the jute and jute goods.
They said the demand for the diversified jute-made products has been increasing gradually side-by-side with the conventional jute products both at domestic and global markets.
They laid emphasis on concerted efforts to revive the glorious past of the jute in this connection.
