Agitated employees of Dhaka Medical College Hospital Thursday demonstrated demanding transparency in the hospital recruitment process.
Nearly 350 Class IV employees of the country's prime public hospital under the banner of Class IV Employees' Union started demonstration from 9:30am in front of the hospital director's room to press home their demand.
The employees became agitated following recent reports in some local dailies that the recent appointments at the hospital were hasty and disregarded normal recruitment procedures.
During the hour-long protest, the demonstrators sought transparency in the latest appointments and priority to candidates from the families of retired and deceased DMCH staff.
Later, they withdrew their programme after getting assurance from the authorities of looking into the reported appointments.
Healthcare service at the hospital was temporarily halted during the demonstration.
