DMP conducts eviction drive from Science Lab to Shahbag

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Traffic Division carried out eviction drive from Science Lab to Shahbag area in the capital on Sunday to clear footpaths from illegal makeshift shops and structures.

During the drive, several persons were detained and fines were also realised from the traders for their alleged occupation of footpaths.

The DMP started the ongoing eviction drive from April 1 to make the city's footpaths free from illegal occupations as well as to ensure smooth vehicular movements.

The drive focused on clearing footpaths and sidewalks from Science Lab to Shahbag, Dhaka Medical College, Nimtoli, and Bangabazar (Golap Shah Mazar crossing) areas.

The DMP warns of strict legal action, including potential imprisonment, for further violations of its directive regarding illegal grabbing of footpaths.
