Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) formed Saturday two probe bodies in connection with the sexual harassment of some women during the Pahela Baishakh celebrations on the University of Dhaka (DU) campus, reports UNB.
A three-member committee, headed by DMP additional commissioner Ibrahim Fatemi, was formed to investigate the incident. Its other members are DMP joint commissioner Belalur Rahman and the DB deputy commissioner (east).
The DMP also formed another two-member probe committee to assist the investigation officer (IO) of the case. The committee members are Additional Deputy Commissioner Ibrahim and Assistant Commissioner Shibli Noman (Ramna zone).
The two committees were asked to submit their reports immediately.
Issuing a suo moto rule over the incident of the sexual harassment, reported in the daily newspapers, the High Court on Thursday directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the DU Vice Chancellor to submit separate reports before the HC within a month after conducting the probe into the incident.
On Thursday, the DU authorities also formed a probe body to investigate the incident.
