Adequate security measures had been taken to ensure safety and security ahead of the Amar Ekushey book fair in the capital, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md Sajjad Ali on Wednesday.
A good number of uniform and plain clothes police personnel will be deployed inside and outside the book fair venue.
The Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) and bomb disposal teams will be put on alert at the venue.
The fair will also be monitored by drones.
These remarks were made during a coordination meeting on overall safety and security of the book fair at the conference room of DMP headquarters on Wednesday.
Close circuit (CC) cameras and watch towers will be there to monitor the fair.
All visitors must enter the fair through an archway. None would be allowed to enter the venue with big bags, cartons and combustible items.
The fair will include a lost and found centre, a help desk and a child nurturing centre.
Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md Nazrul Islam and Additional Police Commissioner (logistics, finance and Procurement) Hasan Md Sawkat Ali were present, among others, at the meeting.
