DNCC demolishes nine illegal buildings at Mohammadpur

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Saturday demolished nine buildings, a gate and some other illegal structures in the city's Mohammadpur area.

With these, the Corporation has demolished around 70 illegal buildings and recovered 20 bighas of land from encroachment in the three-day eviction drive.

Besides, 10 tonnes of waste from Ramchandrapur canal was removed during excavation work there.

DNCC Zone-5 Regional Chief Executive Officer Motakabbir Ahmed and DNCC Estate Officer Mahbub Hasan led the eviction drive. Mohammad Mahay Alam, chief estate officer and Councillor Asif Ahmed were present.

A group of businesses including a livestock firm were continuing their operation there occupying the canal and its banks.

The eviction drive was conducted first in Mohammadpur Satmasjid housing area on Saturday noon.

Part of the structure of much-talked-about Sadik Agro was demolished during the three-day eviction drive.

Following instructions of DNCC Mayor Md Atiqul Islam, the Corporation has been conducting regular operations to retrieve various canals from the possession of grabbers.
