DNCC dismantles 4,000 illegal structures in 10 days


Mobile courts of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) evicted some 4,000 illegal establishments in the capital, fined Tk 1.27 million and jailed three persons during September 22 to October 01.
On Tuesday, a mobile court of DNCC conducted an eviction drive in the city and removed some 150 illegal establishments from footpaths and roads.
A team, led by two executive magistrates of the DNCC, conducted the drive in city's Gabtoli area and freed some 11 acres of lands from illegal occupants between Gabtoli cattle market and the river Turag.
The DNCC's executive magistrates Aminul Islam and Mohammad Sajid Anowar launched the drive.
Saleha Binte Siraj, zonal executive officer of the DNCC and Mujib Sarwar Masum, a DNCC ward councillor, among others, were present during the eviction drive on the day.
Such drives and mobile courts will continue in the coming days, according to a press statement issued by the DNCC on Tuesday.
