DNCC to modernise command centre to ensure civic services

The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will modernise its command centre aimed at ensuring civic services for the city dwellers, Mayor Atiqul Islam said on Saturday.
"The centre will help the DNCC identify different problem areas in the city, including waterlogging, out-of-order streetlights and escalators, footbridges and address them," he said while speaking at a press conference.
The press conference was organised at the DNCC headquarters in Gulshan to brief the media on his recent visit to the USA, said a statement.
The mayor went to the United States at the invitation of the Mayors Migration Council (MMC) and the World Bank.
He said, "We have demanded access to the climate fund after highlighting the adverse effects of climate change in Bangladesh."
He also said the delegates visited various facilities in New York and Washington to get an idea how Bangladesh will have to deal with civic services when the country would become a developed one by 2041.
DNCC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Md Selim Reza along with other top officials was present at the press conference.
The DNCC mayor visited the USA from May 15-26. During his visit, he took part in different programmes, including MMC leadership board meeting, disaster displacement and general assembly meeting.
