The damage done to vehicles like dump trucks and compactor trucks is estimated at more than Tk 2.05 billion.
"The DNCC has been facing serious trouble with damaged vehicles from its pool," DNCC mayor Atiqul Islam told a press conference at his office at Gulshan on Monday.
It might take a year to procure the vehicles in order to restore the waste management capacity, he said.
Mr Atiq underscored the need for a proper investigation and bringing those responsible for attacks to trial.
DNCC CEO Mir Khairul Alam, chief engineer Brig Gen Moin Uddin, chief waste management officer Capt Mohammad Fida Hasan, zonal heads and councillors, among others, were present.
The mayor, however, hoped that the debris from different roads would be cleared by Saturday.
According to information available, five zonal offices under the DNCC's jurisdiction have witnessed varied levels of vandalism.
Mirpur, which is under zone four, has witnessed the most severe blow as a total of 46 vehicles, including 29 dump and compactor trucks, were set on fire.
The footbridge in Mirpur-10 intersection near metro-rail station was damaged in a violent arson attack on the police box below.
A car and a bike got damaged at Zone-05 office in Mohammadpur. A driver was shot during the attack. He is getting treatment at a hospital.
Miscreants also torched Rampura Pump House, which might hamper water discharge during heavy rain and cause water-logging.
Smart LED bulbs along Nadda, Progoti Sarari and Malibagh Chowdhurypara as well as Mirpur-10, Shewrapara and Banani were also damaged.
The damage to the LED light system has caused an estimated loss of Tk 350 million.
