The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) fined errant eggs and chicken traders a total of Tk 0.48 million (Tk 4,85,000) in the capital and at Savar in Dhaka on Saturday.
Head of the DNCRP Dhaka office Md Abdul Jabbar Mondal and assistant director at the DNCRP central office Md Hasanuzzaman led a drive against some profit monger eggs wholesalers in the Baipail area under Savar upazila in Dhaka on Saturday.
During the drive they fined Asif Egg Shop Tk 0.1 million, SJ Agro Tk 0.1 million and Faisal Enterprise Tk 0.25 million (a total of Tk 0.45 million) for not preserving cash receipts of purchasing eggs, selling of eggs at an exorbitant prices than purchasing rates and not hanging price charts of eggs at their respective shops.
The team also temporary sealed off Faisal Enterprise and directed its proprietor to appear before the DNCRP office today (Sunday) and explain why legal action should not be taken against his business establishment.
In another drive, assistant director of DNCRP Zannatul Ferdaus carried out drive at Gulsahn-1 kitchen market in the capital.
The DNCRP team fined three egg traders and four chicken traders a total of Tk 35,000 for selling eggs and chicken at an exorbitant price compared to purchasing prices.
