Docs' assailants to face action, says minister

Health minister Samanta Lal Sen has cautioned that the people responsible for undue assaults on physicians will have to face legal action.
"If doctors are assaulted unduly, the attackers will be brought under legal action and their punishment be ensured," he said on Saturday.

The minister sounded the warning while he was paying a visit to a female doctor, who came under attack recently, at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, reads a statement.
Dr Sen went there at noon to enquire about the condition of medical officer Dr Nusrat Tanim Tanmi of Damudda Upazila Health Complex under Shariatpur.
He assured Dr Tanim of taking all-out action to ensure due punishment of the miscreants who attacked her while she was returning from office on Wednesday evening.
Dr Sen said the Shariatpur administration arrested the mastermind behind the incident while a move was well underway to arrest the attackers.
"Attacks on physicians at any place will not be tolerated anymore," he said in a strongly-worded warning.
The victim told Dr Sen that a medical representative of a pharmaceutical company along with his allies attacked her to take revenge as she denied prescribing a 'substandard' medicine.
