Doctors, nurses responsible

SYLHET, Feb 24 (UNB): Doctors, nurses and authorities concerned are responsible for the death of 32 people including 10 babies who died at Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital (SOMCH) on February 9.
The allegation was disclosed from the report submitted on Tuesday by the probe committee formed by the hospital authorities for investigating the deaths, 13 days after the incident, said director of the hospital Brigadier General Dr. Abdus Sabir Mia.
According to the report, the deaths were caused by the negligence of doctors, nurses and some authorities concerned, he said.
Besides, the rush of patients during the hartal and blockade programme, mismanagement, manpower shortage and accommodation problems were also held responsible for the deaths, the director added.
On February 9, at least 32 people, including 10 children, died at the hospital allegedly due to 'wrong treatment and negligence'.
