DoE fines 2 factories

The Department of Environment (DoE) fined on Thursday two factories in Gazipur and Manikganj Tk 0.7 million for polluting environment, reports UNB.
DoE Director (Monitoring and Enforcement) Md Alamgir slapped the fine on the two factories, including a pharmaceutical factory, following hearings held at the DoE headquarters in the capital.
Peoples Pharmaceuticals in the BSCIC Industrial area at Tongi in Gazipur was fined Tk 0.2 million for running factory without environmental clearance while Akij Particle Board Mills in Manikganj Tk 0.5 million on charge of setting up the factory on the bank of the Kaliganga river causing harm to the environment there.
