Drives on roads during Ramadan to ensure safe movement

Communications minister Obaidul Quader said Wednesday that coordinated drives would be conducted during the holy Ramadan and Eid festival for ensuring safe movement of passengers, drivers and pedestrians, reports BSS.
Terming the traffic congestion a national problem and road accident a national anxiety, he said mass awareness could reduce road accidents in the country significantly and ease traffic congestion.
The government is taking various initiatives in this connection, he said while carrying out campaign to build mass awareness against road accidents in Gulistan area in the city.
Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) is running the mass campaign for road safety as well as building awareness against road accidents.
The communications minister stressed the need for safe movement of passengers, drivers and pedestrians.
Obaidul Quader also distributed leaflets and stickers on safety among the passengers, drivers and pedestrians.
Prof Abdullah Abu Sayeed, BRTA Director Mashiur Rahman, President of Nirapad Sarak Chai film actor Ilias Kanchan, cultural personality Monir Khan Shimul, Golam Farida Chanda and singer SI Tutul, among others, were present.
