Dhaka Reporters' Unity (DRU) Sunday denounced terrorist attack on DRU publicity and publication secretary and special correspondent of Daily Amar Desh M Abdullah, reports UNB.
In a joint statement, DRU President Shamim Ahmed and General Secretary Pathik Shaha said the terrorists not only attacked the journalist, but also attempted to kill him.
"Terrorist attack on journalists is absolutely intolerable as this is violation of human rights," the statement said.
The DRU leaders also demanded immediate investigation into the incident and punishment of the terrorists.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) will jointly hold a rally Tuesday in the city in protest of the attack on a reporter of the Amar Desh, threats from the ruling party leaders and repression against journalists across the country.
The rally will be held in front of the National Press Club in the city at 10:30am, said a BFUJ statement Sunday.
