‘Drug trader’ dies in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’


COX'S BAZAR, Mar 30 (UNB): A suspected drug trader was killed in a 'gunfight' with police in Habirchhora hilly area in Teknaf Upazila early Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Hossain, 28, son of Nabi Hossain and an accused in four cases.
Pradip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police station, said on information about the presence of drug traders in the area, a team of police conducted a drive at around 04:30 am.
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the drug traders opened fire, forcing them to fire back that triggered the gunfight.
After the gunfight, police found Hossain bullet injured. Later, he was taken to Teknaf Upazila health complex where doctors declared him dead.
