DSCC conducts eviction drive in Gulistan area

FE REPORT | April 10, 2026 00:00:00

The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) carried out an eviction drive against illegal makeshift shops in the city's Baitul Mukarram and Gulistan areas on Thursday.

During the drive, led by an executive magistrate of DSCC and backed by police personnel, many illegal makeshift shops were removed to reclaim footpaths and reduce congestion.

According to DSCC, a number of structures - built illegally on the footpaths and walkways - are causing severe traffic jam and hampering smooth movement of pedestrians.

The DSCC's eviction drive aims to remove the illegal makeshift stalls encroaching on roads and footpaths. It is part of a larger, ongoing effort to secure walkways in the capital. The corporation has also planned to keep the areas under regular observation to prevent the return of illegal structures.
