DU accounts process goes automated

The Dhaka University (DU) authorities on Wednesday inaugurated its automated accounts process at Prof. Abdul Matin Chowdhury Virtual Classroom on the campus.
DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the digitised accounting system as the chief guest.
Presided over by Treasurer Prof. Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, the inaugural event was attended by Pro VC (administration) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Samad, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Prof. Dr. Md. Hasanuzzaman, Convener of Accounting Computerisation Committee (Expert Committee) Prof. Shantinarayan Ghosh and Chairman of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department Prof. Dr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman.
VC Akhtaruzzaman said that through the automation, the DU will go in a dynamic level where overall management, transparency and accountability will be ensured in all cases. This facility should be extended to all levels of the administration, he added.
Under this system, DU students will pay their fees by collecting digitalised receipts from any branch of Janata Bank and also pay their fees through mobile apps from anywhere with the help of commercial bank cards or mobile banking such as bKash, Nagad, Rocket and Surecash.
DU-AIS Project, under the CSE Department, has processed this automation using 15 software modules which will also help university authorities prepare quickly and easily their annual income and expenditure of all sectors, financial statements, and annual budgets.
Salaries, pensions and other allowances of teachers, officials and employees of the DU, income tax, insurance, bank loans, provident fund, benevolent fund, teachers' examination bills and various trusts fund accounting will be done automatically through this process.
