DU admission test from Apr 29

The authorities of Dhaka University (DU) have decided on Thursday that the 'undergraduate (honors) programme' of 2022-23 academic session admission test will begin on April 29.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the general admission committee at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban with DU Vice- Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman in the chair. Earlier, the Deans committee proposed the dates to the central admission committee.

Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Dr Muhammad Samad, Pro-VC (Academic) Prof Dr A.S.M. Maksud Kamal, Treasurer Prof Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, Registrar Probir Kumar Sarker, Convener of online admission committee Prof Dr Mustafizur Rahman, different Faculty Deans, Hall Provosts, Senate-Syndicate members and officials were present in the general admission committee's meeting.

According to the decision, online application process for admission will start on February 27 and will continue till March 20.

This year, the admission test will be held only for four units under 'undergraduate programme' instead of 'honours first year programme' and 'transgender quota' will remain for the test. The four units are 'Arts, Law and Social Science' unit, 'Science' unit, 'Business Studies' unit and 'Fine Arts' unit.

The admission test for 'Fine Arts' unit (General Knowledge and Drawing) will take place on April 29 while admission test for 'Arts, Law and Social Science' unit will be on May 6, 'Science' unit on May 12 and 'Business Studies' unit on May 13.

The students who have science background in SSC or equivalent and HSC or equivalent exams can apply for 'Science' and 'Arts, Law and Social Science' unit entry tests if they have a total of minimum GPA 8.00 with the condition that they must have at least 3.50 in both SSC or HSC or equivalent exams.

The students having Arts and Commerce background in HSC or equivalent exams can apply for 'Arts, Law and Social Science' unit, 'Business Studies' unit entry tests respectively if they have a total of minimum GPA 7.5 with the condition that they must have at least 3.00 in both SSC or HSC or equivalent exams. The students can apply for 'Fine Arts' unit if they have a total of minimum GPA 6.5 with the condition that they must have at least 3.00 in both SSC and HSC or equivalent exams.

The admission tests will be held on DU campus and divisional areas from 11 am to 12:30pm with total marks 120. Only 'Fine Arts' unit entry test (General Knowledge and Drawing) will be held on DU campus.

Of 120, 20 marks will be given on the basis of results of School Secondary Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and admission tests will be held on the rest 100 marks.

Of the 100 marks tests, written part will be held of 40 marks and the Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) part will be of rest 60 marks. Only for 'Fine Arts' unit, the MCQ part (General Knowledge) will be held of 40 marks and the written part (Drawing) of rest 60 marks.
