Dhaka University (DU) has rescheduled the dates of upcoming undergraduate first year admission test for 2020-21 academic session, which will now start from July 31, 2021 (Saturday), due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation.
The decision was taken on Thursday at a virtual meeting of general admission committee for first year honours programme with Vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman.
According to the reschedule, the admission test for 'Ka' unit will take place on August 06 (Friday), while admission test for 'Kha' unit will be on August 07 (Saturday), 'Ga' unit on August 13 (Friday), 'Gha' unit on August 14 (Saturday) and 'Cha' unit (general knowledge) on July 31 (Saturday).
Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Muhammad Samad, Pro-VC (Academic) Prof ASM Maksud Kamal, Treasurer Prof Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, Convener of online admission committee Prof Md Mustafizur Rahman, heads of various departments, directors of various institutes, registrar, and other officials were connected at the virtual meeting.
The admission tests will be held in eight divisional cities, including in Dhaka, from 11 am to 12:30 pm with total marks 120.
Of the 120, 20 marks will be given based on the results of School Secondary Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) where it was 80 marks before, and admission tests will be held on the rest 100 marks.
Of the 100-mark tests, for 'Ka', 'Kha', 'Ga' and 'Gha' units, the multiple choice questions (MCQ) part will cover 60 marks and written part rest 40 marks. Admission seekers of these units will get 45 minutes for the MCQ part and 45 minutes for the written part.
Only for 'Cha' unit, written part will be held on 60 marks and the MCQ part on rest 40 marks. Here, written test will be held for 45 minutes and the MCQ test for 30 minutes.
The admission seekers will download their admit cards starting from July 10 until 30 minutes before their exam.
