DU dorms to reopen partially in March

The Dhaka University (DU) authorities are going to reopen its dormitories partially in the first week of March, considering the interests of the residential master's examinees, reports BSS.

The decision came from the provost committee meeting held on Tuesday with Vice- Chancellor Dr Akhtaruzzamanin in the chair, Dr Nizamul Hoque Bhuiyan, provost of Hazi Muhammad Mohsin Hall confirmed the news.

Gradually, the university will take decisions to allow final year students and others in the dormitories considering overall pandemic situation, added Nizamul, also general secretary of Dhaka University Teachers Association (DUTA).

The university has been preparing the roadmap to reopen halls maintaining health guidelines considering the pandemic situation.

Besides, cleanliness campaign is going on in full swing in the dormitories for few days.

DU Pro-VC (Academic) Dr Maksud Kamal, Pro-VC (Administration) Dr Mohammad Samad, provosts of different halls, deans of different faculties and teachers, among others, were present at the meeting.

Earlier, soon after the DU authorities decided to hold examinations, university students and teachers staged demonstrations on the campus demanding that the halls are reopened before the examinations.
