Police recovered the body of a female student of Dhaka University (DU), hanging from a ceiling fan in a female hostel at the capital's Elephant Road.
The deceased has been identified as Anika Meherunnesa Sahi (24), of Management Department of the university.
Her body was recovered at around 11:00 pm on Sunday.
Police took her to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around 1:45 am on Monday where the attending doctor declared her dead.
Biraj Misri, a sub-inspector of New Market police station, said police found her body hanging by a scarf in room 803 on the 8th floor of Maksud Tower.
