DU journalism students to get 3-month internship under MCJ-ICRC accord

Dhaka University (DU) and country office of International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the objective of academic development of journalism students, reports UNB.
DU Vice-chancellor SMA Faiz and Red Cross Bangladesh Mission chief Sinn Ruda signed the MoU at the VC office Monday.
Acting Dean of Social Sciences Faculty AAMS Arefin Siddique, MCJ (Mass Communication and Journalism) department chairman Abdus Salam and Geetiara Nasrin and ICRC's communication officer Surinder Singh Oberoi were present at the signing ceremony.
Under the MoU, the ICRC would provide yearly financial supports to the DU MCJ department to arrange three-month internship for 30 senior MCJ students in various media houses.
The students who will be selected for the internship would get Tk 3,000 as their monthly remuneration.
Apart from the financial assistance, ICRC and MCJ department would jointly arrange seminar, symposium and workshop on various media issues.
