A seminar on 'Social Protection, the Role of Civil Society and the Government: in Search of a Framework' was held at the RC Mojumder auditorium of Dhaka University Tuesday.
Department of Public Administration of the university organised the seminar.
DU Vice-Chancellor SMA Faiz was present as the chief guest at the seminar with the department chairman Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah in the chair.
Regional Manager of Marketing and Recruitment Division of Monash University of Australia Hoa Levitas addressed the function as special guest while Sharif As Shaber of the same university presented the keynote paper.
DU VC said the civil society could play a pioneering role in eradicating social disparity and keeping the trend of country's total development dynamic.
He said the country might run on a speedy wheel of progress through concerted initiatives by the public and private sectors, laying emphasis for minimising the existing distance between the government and the civil society.
