The authorities of Dhaka University on Monday relieved Prof Morshed Hasan Khan of Marketing Department from all academic and administrative activities for allegedly distorting Liberation War history in an article, reports UNB.
DU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman confirmed the matter and said, "He has been temporally relieved from all academic and administrative activities for distorted Liberation War history and making offensive remarks about Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in his article titled "Jyotirmoy Zia" published in a national daily on March 26."
After publishing the article Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and Dhaka University Teachers Association (DUTA) demanded resignation of the professor.
In that article, Prof Morshed Hasan Khan allegedly mentioned that Ziaur Rahman, founder of BNP, proclaimed independence in 1971 and claimed most of the Awami League leaders including Sheikh Mujibur Rahman left the country during the time, leaving the countrymen in trouble.
