DU set to celebrate Pahela Baishakh

The Dhaka University (DU) authorities have chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bangla calendar, on April 14.
The programmes were drawn up at a meeting on the Pahela Baishakh celebrations held on Sunday with DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman in the chair.
Pro-VC (Administration) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Samad, Pro-VC (Academic) Prof. Dr. A.S.M. Maksud Kamal, Treasurer Prof. Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, Registrar Probir Kumar Sarker, Faculty Deans, Hall Provosts, Senate and Syndicate members and officials concerned were present at the meeting.
This year DU Fine Arts Faculty will bring out the traditional 'Mangal Shobhajatra' from Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) due to the construction work of the metro rail project, said a press release.
The university authorities will take foolproof security measures to celebrate Pahela Baishakh peacefully.
