Students of Dhaka University on Thursday demanded punishment for the transport workers who attacked two varsity buses in the city's Signboard area during the transport strike on the previous day.

They placed the demand at a human chain programme organised in front of Raju Sculpture on the campus under the banner of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU).

DUCSU Vice-President Nurul Huq Nur, Students' Transport secretary Shams-e-Noman, and member Tilottoma Shikder were present at the programme.

Terming the transport strike and workers' protests illogical, VP Nur said, "They (agitating workers) cannot attack our bus. Even though the students requested them, they also attacked them."
