DU students demand revision of quota system in govt jobs

Hundreds of present and former students of Dhaka University (DU) staged demonstrations at the foot of Raju memorial sculpture at the DU on Saturday morning demanding revision of quota system in government jobs, reports UNB.

The students, under the banner of General Student's Rights Protection Council (Sadharon Chhatra Odhikar Sangrokkon Parishad) took position on the road at 10:30 am.

They were seen carrying placards demanding introduction of unified pass marks for all candidates of BCS preliminary test, review of quota system in the government recruitment process including Bangladesh Civil Services (BCS) examination, fixation of 10 percent quota instead of existing 57 per cent etc.

A large number of law enforcers were seen around the demonstrators.

However, the protesters left the place peacefully around 12:15 pm. While talking to the news agency, Deputy Commissioner Maruf of Ramma Zone said for the sake of security of the visitors of Amar Ekushey Book Fair we want to keep the area free from any kind of agitation progreamme.
