DU suspends prof accused of sexual harassment

Prof. Dr. Md Ershad Halim of the Chemistry Department at the Dhaka University (DU) has been temporarily suspended over a sexual harassment allegation.

Primary proof was found regarding the allegation made by some of his male students. The decision to suspend him was taken at a recent syndicate meeting,

according to a statement issued from the DU on Monday.

The statement noted that a five-member probe committee has been formed to investigate the allegation. It has been asked to submit its report within three months.

On November 13, the teacher was arrested by Mirpur Police over the sexual harassment allegation.
