DU to confer 'Prof Emeritus' status on three teachers

Dhaka University (DU) will confer the status of 'Professor Emeritus' on its three senior teachers in recognition of their remarkable contribution to the development of education.
The three educationists are Prof Abdul Matin of Philosophy Department, Prof Sultana Sarwat Ara Zaman of the Institute of Education and Research (IER) and Prof Nazma Chowdhury of Women and Gender Studies Department of DU.
DU syndicate took the decision to offer them the prestigious title at a meeting with its Vice-Chancellor SMA Faiz Saturday.
Earlier, five senior teachers of DU were given the same status in June this year.
According to the DU rules, the professors emeritus will profess in their respective departments as lifetime teachers and enjoy all facilities as professors of the university until their death.
